OVERVIEW OF CONTENTS
These backup files contain all the leads, broadcasts
and followups for all the lists associated with your
account. The files are organized by list: each list
has its own folder which contains 3 separate
subfolders for the leads, broadcasts and followup
emails associated with that list.

OVERVIEW OF .CSV FILES
The .csv file format is used for many of the
included backup files. .csv files are text-based
files which allow for data to be easily imported into
a spreadsheet program (such as Microsoft Excel).

Double-clicking a .csv file to open it may open
the file in a text editor (such as Notepad on
Windows) which is NOT the best way to view these
files. In fact, when the files are viewed in
Notepad, they are all crammed together on one line
and are almost impossible to read.

Instead, we recommend that you view the files with
either Microsoft Excel (for Windows or Mac) or with
OpenOffice.org Calc (which is a free spreadsheet
program available for Windows, Mac or Linux).
Directions on how to open .csv files in both are
provided below.

EXCEL INSTRUCTIONS
If you're using Windows, locate the .csv file you
wish to open and right-click on the file. Move your
mouse to the option labelled Open With and select
Microsoft Excel. This will open the file in Excel,
which will automatically format the data for display
as a spreadsheet. If you're using Mac OS, you may need
to first open Excel then open the .csv file from
within Excel.

When Excel imports a .csv file, it places all the
data in cells which are formatted as the 'General'
Cell Type. As a result of this, long numbers can
sometimes appear in scientific notation. Also, leading
and trailing zeros are sometimes not correctly
displayed. These problems can be fixed by selecting
the applicable cells, right click on them and select
Format Cells. On the dialog which appears, change
the Cell Type from 'General' to 'Text'.

An additional tip is to click on Cell A-2 then click
Window-->Freeze Panes, which will enable the header
row to remain stationary as you scroll down to view
additional rows beneath it.

OPENOFFICE CALC INSTRUCTIONS
If you have OpenOffice installed and configured to
automatically handle .csv files, you can double-click
on the file to open it in OpenOffice Calc. A prompt
will appear asking you how to format the file. Make
sure that the COMMA option box is checked underneath
the 'Separated by' heading then click OK.

LEADS
Within each leads subfolder, the leads are organized
into 2 files, for active and inactive leads. Active
leads are those who are currently receiving your
followups and broadcasts. Inactive leads are not
receiving them, either because the email address is
undeliverable, because he/she has unsubscribed from
the list or because verified opt-in is enabled and
he/she is not yet verified.

FOLLOWUPS AND BROADCASTS
All followups and broadcasts associated with a list
appear in separate folders: one for broadcasts and
one for followups. Each folder contains a single
.csv summary file which lists various statistics
about the followups or broadcasts. All followups
are organized by the order in which they are
scheduled to be sent to the leads (and prefixed
with a '1', '2', '3', etc.). Broadcasts are
organized by the date on which they were sent. If
any attachments were sent with the broadcasts or
followups, the attachments will also appear in the
folder (You can tell which attachments go with which
messages by checking the beginning of the filename -
followup attachments have the followup number at the
start of the filename, and broadcast attachments will
begin with the date of the broadcast). Plain
text versions of a broadcast or followup are saved
as regular text files. HTML versions of the messages
are saved as .htm files which can be viewed in a
Web browser, or opened in a text editor to see the
HTML code.
